Nikki Disney has a passion for art to evoke change.
As well as a director, poet and performer she is also a state registered Dramatherapist (HCPC) and supervisor who has worked with vulnerable groups using art for over 10 years. - She is the founder of Stageweight an organisation concerned with artist wellbeing with a focus on support around Mental Health. She has implemented and delivered Safeguarding procedures within arts organisations (including Mouthy Poets CIC in Nottingham) and trained artists on boundaries and wellbeing/self care. -She offers 1:1 therapy for Adults and Children specialising in trauma and Attachment and has worked with many agencies including: CAMHs, The Children's Society, Safe and Sound, Catharis, Changing Lives, The Place2Be and NWG (National Working group. -She is a Group Therapist who has worked for agencies such as Nottingham Womens Centre and Harmless. -She is an Associate Lecturer on the MA in Dramatherapy at Derby University. -She is a founding member of The Party Somwhere Else working to support womens voices in the arts in the East Midlands. -She is a Person Centred Director and worked with Derby Theatre, Lakeside Arts Centre and Nottingham Playhouse. She has worked with Nottingham Theatre companies such as The Gramophones and is the Artists Director for auROARa an all female community theatre company focusing on developing work to empower women in Nottinghamshire. -She offers Yoga Classes at Bahia Yoga and is passionate about how offering space for the body and breath can create change. |
